Teresa Grinter on stage

The Lyric School Of Dancing is led by IDTA Qualified Dance Teacher Teresa Grinter.

It is no exaggeration to say that Teresa was dancing before she could walk. As a toddler she was sent to the Bernard Gale School of dancing to correct a severe pigeon toe condition. Dancing solved the problem but having learned to walk Teresa did not want to give up on the dancing. As a child Teresa took classes in every style of dancing she could find. She trained in ballet, tap, modern, ballroom and Latin. As she moved up through the Bernard Gale School and various summer schools Teresa began to help Bernard by teaching the younger classes; initially as Bernard’s assistant and later running classes herself. With Bernard’s help she worked her way through the rigorous professional teaching qualifications in Ballet, tap, freestyle, and Country & Western Dance. When Bernard became ill Teresa continued running the theatre branch classes for him. Following the closure of the Bernard Gale School of Dancing in 2006 Teresa set up the Lyric School Of Dancing, named after the hall, the former Lyric Cinema, in which Bernard and she had taught for so many years.

The Lyric School Of Dancing holds classes for dancers of all ages from two and a half years to adult
